There's been some interest here and there about Retake ME3 themed shirts. Well, ~peshewa (silencemayday on BSN) has designed a few shirts that are available for purchase, and all profits will go towards Child's Play charity!

"Never Forget" - [link]
"Marauder Shields" - [link]

"Hold the Line" - [link]

"Space Magic" - [link]

"He Can't Do It Alone" - [link]

"She Can't Do It Alone" - [link]

Remember, these shirts will be on sale only until April 11. After that, the profit from sales will be donated to Child's Play.

I see nothing wrong with doing some charity work with the movement you've got going, so don't worry about that. However, the threat of a lawsuit from EA is very worrying to me, as they're the type of company that are willing to play dirty in the interest of profit.

I think they need to send you a cease and desist letter before trying to take anyone to court over this. If that happens, peshewa will have to stop selling the shirts, but at least no one will wind up in court. I'm not sure, though.

I love that space magic idea! :D
It's brilliant, I wonder who said it first.

oh and i mean no offense but raising all this money to bribe EA or Bioware to change the ending is exactly what they'd want in my mind. Think about it, giving EA/ Bioware 50,000 dollars just to make a DLC to change the ending when it should have been good in the first place. It's just giving Bioware more money which is like telling them they did nothing wrong but they commited the crime of the century

I'm sorry if I'm reading your comments wrong, but I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying. The Retake Mass Effect movement does not make any money off of the $70,000+ donations; it was all directly donated to Child's Play charity by individual members of the Retake movement, and does not belong to the group. These donations are not intended or used to bribe EA or BioWare into doing anything.

Oh i see, no it is fine in fact i am really confused by all of this. Please explain to me what is this money for then? Are we using it to make our own version of ME 3? Which i would fully support but EA would sue it in a heart beat so if were not bribing EA or Bioware what are we doing with this money besides from just giving it to Child's Play? This isn't for like charity as in homeless people is it? Cause.. i thought this was about ME not charity real life stuff. I am just confused about all of this

It's all right. :) Child's Play is a charity that provides toys, video games, and books (as gamers, we emphasize the games part, haha) for patients at children's hospitals all over the world. All the money donated through Retake Mass Effect's ChipIn page ([link]) is going directly to Child's Play, with no hidden agendas. Actually, there's this article that just came out today that talks about Retake Mass Effect's involvement with charity: [link] Page two of the article actually talks about the shirts that we featured in this blog post. I hope that helps!

Soo uhh let me get this streight. Were getting back at Bioware by giving toys and books to children..... uhhhhhhh i am sorry but is Bioware suppose to be intimidated by this? I mean uhh oook? How is that even going to remotely stop them from pissing all over their fans and conntinuing to absolutely destroy games we love
I mean yeah good for u guys helping out orphans and sick kids and what not, u got my full support there but i am having trouble seeing what helping out kids has anything to do with fighting for Mass Effect and fighting against Bioware

No, we're not trying to get back at BioWare by donating to charity, and we're not trying to intimidate them. Here is an excerpt from the third page of this article, which I feel explains the situation more eloquently than I could have, and I think it might help answer your question:

As for the blackmail argument, it’s not lost on the members of the community helping to push the fundraiser.

“Honestly, it did occur to me when we started this that it could look that way. It certainly wasn’t our intention to hit Bioware over the head with this and claim moral superiority,” Robb said. “It was meant to draw attention to the sincerity of our feelings, not to try to shame anyone into doing something. I would actually be very disappointed if they changed the ending because of the charity drive instead of because they admit that we have valid concerns about the way the series ended. I hope that the fact that the money is going to the charity regardless of the outcome of the petition can dispel some of the ‘blackmail’ rumors. If Bioware does nothing, the charity still has all of the donations, and hopefully a few new people aware of its existence.”

Others acknowledge that it’s easy to see the Retake fundraiser as self-serving – it’s just not the case.

“I feel that from an outsider perspective, it’s a 100-percent logical argument, and I hold nothing against those who think that,” said Erik Knapp, 16, of Ohio. Knapp is another of the more well-known community members working on the fundraiser. “If I were looking at an event like this without knowing what it’s about (and in some cases, even why it exists) I would probably react the same way.

“I would tell them it’s important that they know that the event is more or less just channeling everything negative we feel about the end of the game in to something good, if we gain publicity or more support along the way then so be it, but it isn’t our main goal.”

i still don't see how this has anything to do with Mass Effect but thanks anyways. Doing something for charity isn't helping or changing anything so in my mind this shouldn't be in a retake Mass Effect group. If u want to go help Charity feel free to but it isn't changing anything with this issue

As I understand it, the charity drive was meant to establish credibility to our movement, while also creating a positive outlet to our frustration. When first starting out, many people accused the movement as being whiny entitled gamers that should not be taken seriously. To disprove this, the charity drive began, as it publicly shows that we're not doing this to be selfish, while, of course, going to a good cause. We wanted to establish credibility, but that's long since moved on to the point where we simply want to do some good with the community we created, regardless of whether or not we get the ending we want. You don't have to donate if it's something you're not interested in; it is and always will be completely optional. We're still glad to have your support for the movement in general, and you don't have to go any further than that if you don't want to. :)
